Switching guide

Switch to D Line from Unitel Voice or iPlum

Moving a business number is called porting. It works the same way from most providers: you ask D Line to request the number, your current provider releases it, and calls start ringing in D Line. Porting is free: D Line does not charge to port your number in.

Step by step

How porting to D Line works

Do not cancel your current service before the port completes. Cancelling first can release the number and lose it.

  1. 01

    Check eligibility

List every number you want to move, including any toll-free numbers. D Line confirms whether each number can be ported before the request goes in.

  2. 02

    Gather your account details

From your current provider, get the account number, the account PIN or passcode, the authorized name, and the business name, billing phone, and service address exactly as they appear on your bill. If anything does not match, ask them for a Customer Service Record (CSR).

  3. 03

Sign the LOA and upload a recent bill

The Letter of Authorization (LOA) lets D Line request the number on your behalf. Upload it with a recent invoice from your current provider.

  4. 04

    Order the port-in

Submit the request from the phone numbers area of your D Line workspace. D Line does not charge to port your number in, and eligibility and timing are confirmed before the move.

  5. 05

    Keep your old service active

Leave Unitel Voice or iPlum running until D Line confirms the port is complete and you have tested calls. Then cancel with your old provider.

Before the port

What to set up in D Line first

Set everything up on a temporary D Line number so the switch is quiet on the day the number moves.

Users and extensions

Invite your team and give everyone an extension. Extensions are unlimited on both plans.

Call routing

Build call menus and ring groups; on Advanced, add business-hours routing and call queues.

Greetings and voicemail

Record or upload greetings and set voicemail for each person or group.

Apps and phones

Install the browser, desktop, and mobile apps, and order any pre-configured IP phones by quote.

Texting registration

Business texting needs carrier registration (10DLC). Start it early: it is a $5/month add-on on Base and included on Advanced.

Recording settings

Decide whether to record calls and review the consent rules that apply to you.

What to recreate

Rebuild your auto attendant, ring groups, and greetings in D Line. Download any call recordings you want to keep: Unitel Voice keeps recordings for 60 days.

Leaving iPlum

Notes for iPlum customers

Port-out unlock

iPlum's FAQ says port-out is started in the portal (Tools & Reports, then Port Number) and needs a paid unlock plus any carrier charges. Quo's porting guide lists the unlock at $19.99 per number.

Billing

iPlum says prepaid plans and port fees are non-refundable, so check your renewal date before you plan the move.

Records and compliance

Export any call recordings or text archives you need to keep. D Line does not offer a BAA today, so do not move protected health information to D Line.
