A fair fit check

Who should choose which.

Choose D Line if…

  • You want call recording and proper extensions without moving to the Pro tier.
  • Your team is growing past three or ten people and the per-user add-on would keep climbing.
  • You want AI transcripts and summaries, and an AI agent included rather than a separate add-on.
  • You want live phone support at any hour, not only during Central Time hours.

Choose Talkroute if…

  • You are one person who needs a business number on your phone; Basic is $19/month.
  • You hold video meetings with outside participants and want that bundled with the phone plan.
  • You use Linux on the desktop; Talkroute lists a Linux app.
  • You want Zapier and an API on the entry plan.

Switching

How to move from Talkroute to D Line

Do not cancel Talkroute before the port completes. Cancelling first can release the number.

  1. 01

    Set up D Line first

Start a 14-day trial, invite your team, and build call menus, ring groups, and voicemail on the temporary number. Users and extensions are unlimited on both plans.

  2. 02

    Get your Talkroute account details

Note the account number, any account or port-out PIN, and the name and service address exactly as Talkroute has them. A recent bill helps.

  3. 03

Check your Talkroute numbers and texting registration

List every Talkroute number, and note whether 10DLC texting is registered on it so you can re-register texting on D Line after the port.

  4. 04

Request the port in D Line

Sign the Letter of Authorization (LOA) and submit the port from the phone numbers area of your workspace. Porting in is free, and eligibility and timing are confirmed before the move.

  5. 05

    Test, then cancel

When D Line confirms the port, test inbound calls and texts, register texting (10DLC) if you use it, then cancel Talkroute.

Questions
